The excitement is palpable as Malaysia Men's Hockey Team touched down in Chennai, India on Saturday to participate in the Asian Champions Trophy Chennai 2023.
Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin inaugurated the brand new turf on Friday in a grand ceremony in the presence of the Minister for Youth Welfare and Sports Development Department of Tamil Nadu, Udhayanidhi Stalin.
The Santosh Trophy will see participation from 38 teams, while there will be 37 teams in the Senior Women’s NFC. Karnataka and Meghalaya, who were the two finalists of the Santosh Trophy in 2022-23 will gain direct entry into the Final Rounds of the competition, while the same will apply for
"You all should play sports in India-level games. Not only you, we are also working for I.N.D.I.A. Our team is also I.N.DI.A only. For the victory of that, with team spirit, we all are working unitedly," Stalin said.
In this edition of the tournament, each team will play the other five twice. Out of these, the top four will qualify for playoffs, which will be held like the IPL format. All matches will be played at M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.
