The second day of the Global Chess League witnessed the debut of Magnus Carlsen, the strongest chess player in the world. Carlsen played his first game against Ian Nepomniachtchi, a two-time challenger for the world crown.
In the first match of Global Chess League, Mumba Masters defeated the Continental Kings 8:7 in a thrilling encounter while in the second match, Ganges Grandmasters won with 10 game points, while the Titans ended on four.
The Global Chess League will feature a unique playing concept - with each match of the league taking place at a different time, played in a double round-robin format. For the first time in chess, all team members will be playing a match with pieces of the same colour.
The Global Chess League kicks off on June 22 after a glittering opening ceremony on the day before. Triveni Continental Kings will be up against Mumba Masters, starting the tournament in a grand manner.
