The 27th Conference of DGPs and heads of Central Passport Organisations (CPOs) of the North-East was organised at Agartala on Tuesday and Wednesday, jointly under the aegis of Intelligence Bureau/Ministry of Home Affairs and Tripura Police.
Under the mission of 'Nasha Mukt Tripura' launched by Chief Minister Manik Saha-led Tripura government, a torrential and massive eviction drive was carried out by the police at the Battala Bazar area in the state capital Agartala.
CM Saha's gesture left the residents with surprise as he went door-to-door despite being on a tight schedule, and spoke to the families to confirm if they were getting the benefits of the government schemes.
As per the information recieved, a team of officials from the Sidhai police station along with the officers of the 29th Battalion of the Assam Rifles conducted a raid at the Hezamara village in the Mohanpur subdivision of the West Tripura district.
"Today women have come forward not only in rights but also in responsibilities. Today I inaugurated the first women's police station in the Khowai district in the presence of State Director General of Police Amitabh Ranjan and senior police officers," he tweeted.
Sonowal and Saha also unveiled the statue of Bhagwan Birsa Munda at Ambassa in the Dhalai district and at Khowai in the Khowai district of the state. Earlier, they inaugurated Janjati Gaurav Diwas Maha Mela at Ambassa Dasami ghat.
The Scheduled Tribe Morcha president of the Bharatiya Janata Party was injured in the Barmura area of Tripura's Khowai after he was allegedly attacked by the supporters of Tipra Motha.
Officials said that the incident took place in Barmura hill area, about 38 km away from Agartala on Saturday evening when Oraon and local BJP leaders were returning to Agartala after attending a party meeting at Unakoti district.
To mark the 75th Anniversary of Independence, the Border Security Force is organising a "Cycle Rally" which was flagged off from ICP Akhaura, Tripura and entered Meghalaya on November 11, said the BSF officials.
