Tipra Motha Party founder and erstwhile royal of Tripura, Pradyot Bikram Manikya Debbarma, claimed that his great-great-grandfather, then Maharaja Bir Chandra Manikya, took the first-ever selfie in India in 1880.
Pradyot Debbarma, who is scion of Tripura's erstwhile royal family, also recalled attempts by Pakistan to create trouble in 1947 and Tripura's signing the Instrument of Merger with India.
