CPI(MP) MLA MY Tarigami on Tuesday urged the government to analyse the security lapse and take measures to prevent future attacks following the Pahalgam terror attack.
The incident occurred at Jaitwara police station in the district between 12 and 1 am. The injured head constable has been identified as Prince Garg, who is currently undergoing treatment at Sanjay Gandhi Memorial Hospital, Rewa, he added.
In a statement, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Imranullah said the number of injured rose to 21. Medical Superintendent (MS) Dr Jan Muhammad said 16 people were undergoing treatment at the District Headquarters Hospital (DHQ) Wana.
Earlier, Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav said the party will fully support any action taken by the government for restricting or stopping flow of water to Pakistan following the suspension of the Indus Water Treaty over the Pahalgam terror attack.
Bharatiya Kisan Union President Naresh Tikait on Monday called the government's decision to suspend the Indus Water Treaty with Pakistan a "wrong decision," saying that "every farmer needs water."
The Treaty allocates the Western Rivers (Indus, Jhelum, Chenab) to Pakistan and the Eastern Rivers (Ravi, Beas, Sutlej) to India. At the same time, the Treaty allows each country certain uses of the rivers allocated to the other.
Former Union Minister and Congress leader Saifuddin Soz said that if Pakistan claims it was not involved in the Pahalgam terror attack, then India should accept that for the time being and ultimately rely on the findings of investigating agencies.
