"A rescue team of police and fire officials rescued 8 youths who were caught in Penna river flood surge. The youths had got trapped after the water level of the river started increasing due to the heavy rains," said the official.
Thousands of people remain trapped on site after heavy rains inundated the area and created thick, ankle-deep mud that sticks to campers’ shoes and vehicle tires.

A portion of a two-storey building collapsed on Saturday midnight in the Gauripada area of Bhiwandi city leaving two persons dead, officials said, adding that the building is said to be forty-five years old.
"The rescued individual had got trapped on the Badrinath highway while he was on a trek. He was injured while returning from the trek and was therefore unable to cross the obstructed road," said the official.
