Two people were killed, and 29 others were injured when two trains collided in the city of Zagazig, in Sharkiya governorate Saturday afternoon, the Ministry of Health and Population said.
At least three people were killed, and 49 sustained injuries, in a train collision in Egypt, CNN reported citing the country's health ministry on Saturday.
As many as 515 people were rushed to hospital for examination, with 102 of them suffering from fractures. The statement said no one died in the incident.
Biswajit Sahu, Chief Public Relations Officer of East Coast Railway said that the rescue operation is over and the focus has now shifted to track restoration work.
Bhairab Station Master Yusuf said, "The incident took place around 3:30 pm. The death toll is expected to rise further. Rail connectivity from Dhaka to Chittagong, Sylhet and Kishoreganj is suspended."
After two goods trains collided at Onda railway station in Bankura, a railway official said that the goods train (BCN) overshot the red signal, didn't stop, and derailed with the BRN maintenance train.
