Following the collapse of a bridge over the Indrayani River in Maharashtra's Pune district on Sunday afternoon, the district administration on Monday announced financial assistance of Rs 5 lakh each for the families of the four individuals who lost their lives in the tragedy.
Speaking to ANI on the incident, Jha compared the crash to the recent tragedy in Ahmedabad, saying both had shaken the nation. "What happened recently in Ahmedabad was very tragic, and today's incident (Uttarakhand helicopter crash) is equally heartbreaking," Jha added.
Swapnil Kollam, who claims to be an eyewitness, said, "There were more than 150-200 people on the bridge but at the place where the bridge collapsed, there were more than 50 people... It is God's grace that my family is safe."
Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma on Sunday expressed grief over the death of a pilot from Jaipur and six other pilgrims in a helicopter crash near Kedarnath Dham, calling the incident "extremely sad" and praying for strength to the bereaved families.
