Newly elected President of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev announced that an early election for the lower chamber of the parliament will take place on March 19, reported The Astana Times citing Akorda press service.
Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev addressed the need to pursue the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), climate change, and food and water security in a joint effort with other countries at the Voice of Global South virtual summit on January 13.
After winning Kazakhstan's Sunday snap election, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev is expected to strengthen its ties with China and Western powers as Russia's invasion of Ukraine erodes Moscow's clout over former Soviet states in Central Asia.

Tokayev will win the presidential election after receiving the support of 82.45 percent of the voters, Astana Times reported, citing the Open Society International Institute for Regional Studies.
