After winning Kazakhstan's Sunday snap election, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev is expected to strengthen its ties with China and Western powers as Russia's invasion of Ukraine erodes Moscow's clout over former Soviet states in Central Asia.
"My warm congratulations to President @TokayevKZ, for victory in the Presidential elections in Kazakhstan. I look forward to continuing working together, to further strengthen our bilateral partnership. @AkordaPress," he said in a tweet.
Tokayev will win the presidential election after receiving the support of 82.45 percent of the voters, Astana Times reported, citing the Open Society International Institute for Regional Studies.
