Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha has successfully navigated a major crisis that saw the state's critical transportation arteries blocked by supporters of the TISF, a student wing of the opposition TIPRA MOTHA party.
Tipra Motha Party (Tipraha Indigenous Progressive Regional Alliance), the opposition party in Tripura, celebrated its 3rd foundation day in Malancha Niwash on Monday.
"Today, in a village within Golaghati Mandal, 51 families--a total of 206 people--left TIPRA Motha and joined the BJP. Right now, there is only one guarantee in the country--Modi's guarantee," he said.
"Manik Saha is very religious and keeps attending almost all religious festivals and expressing his strong faith in God and his divine graces," the release from the Chief Minister's Office said.
Leader of Opposition Animesh Debbarma raised a question over the issue of BJP MLA Jabad Lal Nath watching porn in the assembly in March but the Speaker said he will get back to him after some other important issues.
"I won't indulge in politics...I want to do more for my people and only after I achieve that will I exit public life. there is nothing to be achieved in becoming an MP or a minister. We the TIPRA society need to speak as one voice especially to Delhi," he said.
"We met with the HM on a core demand for greater Tipraland, constitutional solution for the greater Tipraland. We met him along with other leaders, and we had a discussion," said the TIPRA Motha Party chief.
"Today, met Tipra Motha Chief Shri @PradyotManikya Ji at his palace after getting news of his poor health conditions. We also discussed various issues pertaining to the interest of the state. I provided warm wishes to him for his speedy recovery," CM Saha tweeted.
Tipra Motha chief Pradyot Deb Barman on Wednesday said an "interlocutor" will be appointed shortly by the Centre as part of a process set in motion by Union Home minister to arrive at a constitutional solution to issues affecting the indigenous people of Tripura.
Seeking to set at rest speculations over his meeting with Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Wednesday, Tipra Motha chief Pradyot Deb Barman said there was no discussion on an alliance with the ruling BJP and the discussions broadly centered on the "interest of dopha" (indigenous people).
BJP national spokesperson Sambit Patra on Wednesday said a meeting was held between his party, which secured a second, straight mandate in Tripura, and the Indigenous People's Front of Tripura (IPFT) on how they can come together and work for the development of the Northeast state.
