Over the past five days, the national capital witnessed maximum temperatures soaring above the 40-degree Celsius mark, intensifying the hot weather conditions, said IMD.

"In the state, an alert has been issued for hailstorms and thunderstorms with a speed of 70 km per hour and heavy snowfall in areas above 3500 meters," read the IMD release.
According to IMD, thunderstorms with moderate intensity rain and gusty winds with speeds of 50-70 Kmph is expected in the region of North, North-West, South, South-west, Central, North-East and East of the country.
Indian Meteorological Department issues an alert of thunderstorms with rain in several districts of Uttar Pradesh, Haryana and areas of the National Capital on Saturday.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Thursday put out a forecast earlier, predicting light to moderate spells of rain coupled with thunderstorms in different parts of Delhi-NCR, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, and Haryana.
"Thunderstorms accompanied with lightning and Light to moderate spells of rain with gusty winds reaching 30-40 kmph are very likely to occur at isolated places in the districts of Satara, Sangli, Kolhapur, Pune, Nandurbar, Nanded, Hingoli, Beed during next 3-4 hours," the official statement
