A Kabaddi player and others were allegedly assaulted by miscreants after a scuffle broke out after the end of a sports competition in Uttar Pradesh's Basti over winning and losing in the game, according to the police.
The accused and the victim are neighbours and they had a fight over garbage, at present the accused is absconding and the matter is being investigated, informed the police.
"Elections will be held in eight months and I want to tell everyone not to be aggressive or fearful. All the police officers should listen with their ears open that everybody's account will be taken in the upcoming elections," said Kamal Nath.
