"Upon receiving the information, the police reached the spot and the person was admitted to Saroj Hospital in the intensive care unit (ICU), where he succumbed to his injuries during treatment," said the police.
The incident took place in the area of Koramangala police station limits, where the young woman was sitting in a park with her friend. She was dragged by four people and gang-raped in a moving car, as informed by the police.
Reacting to the violent clash that broke out between two groups during the 'Ram Navami' Shobha Yatra, Maharashtra minister Mangal Prabhat Lodha said that the procession was taken out after permission from the police and such an incident is unfortunate.
According to the police, a note found in the hotel room where the bodies were found indicates that the family was facing financial stress which compelled them to take the extreme step.
"Tension prevailed for some time during the Ram Navami procession in the Malvani area but the police handled it and the situation is under control," DCP Ajay Bansal said.
"One of the persons who were injured later succumbed to injuries. The incident occurred in Chutiakhor village panchayat of North Dinajpur," the police said.
