In a major decision, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Saturday ordered the cancellation of the Police Constable Recruitment Examination-2023 held on February 17 and 18. He directed for a fresh examination to be conducted within the next 6 months with utmost transparency.
The impersonating youth identified as Sanjay Pal (19) had taken exams of four subjects here in the past but during the fifth paper on Thursday (February 22) he was caught and handed over to the police.
The arrests were made based on information that some Bangladeshi nationals were living illegally near the Lower Depot in the Park Site area of Vikhroli. As soon as the information was received, the police laid a trap in the area two days ago and took all three into custody.
The incident occurred at Government Higher Secondary School, Chand in the district on February 16. Later following the written complaint of the centre head, Sanjay Nagle, the police registered an FIR into the matter on Thursday (February 22).
Visuals from the site showed villagers ransacking Maity's house and beating him up with slippers as protests continued in the Bermajur area of Sandeshkhali where angry villagers clashed with the police on Friday.
The whole incident was captured in the CCTV cameras installed in the house, in which four persons were seen threatening the family with weapons. On getting the information, the police reached the spot and started investigation into the matter.
"We are saying this in pain. Why are they (Shah Jahan Sheikh's aides) breaking into our houses? They are threatening my in-laws. Why are they doing this?" an aggrieved woman protester said as the police tried to pacify the situation.
"Action will be taken against all those who took law in their hands. The allegations of locals are being heard and looked into. Everyone should cooperate with the police and Administration. Action will be taken against anyone who broke the law," said West Bengal Director General of Police
