According to DSP Krishna Kumar Chandrakar, two Naxalites were killed in an encounter at Dantewada's Bijapur border area of Chhattisgarh today. During the search, the police seized two knuckle dusters, a large quantity of ammunitions.
The police forces are engaged in an exchange of fire with the Naxal insurgents in the jungles of Purangel, near the border of Dantewada and Bijapur in Chhattisgarh, sources said.
Speaking to ANI, Singh said, "I was not present here but my son told me that he was playing devotional songs at that time. They had come to fight with him. The sound was low only. They beat him up. We went to the police station also. We want justice."
Visuals from the spot showed that several people had assembled to aid the victims. The police had already rushed to the spot and the ambulance was called in.
Instructions were issued for the installation of barbed wires around the premises while mandating a swift security audit involving officials from the special branch of the police, the Intelligence Bureau, and jail staff.
The police on Sunday apprehended several Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) supporters and leaders amid protests in different parts of the country over the alleged rigging in general elections. The elections in Pakistan were held on February 8.
