The Congress' "hyper-local or micro" campaign in Gujarat did not yield results and apparently made it easier for the BJP to storm back to power with a record victory. The BJP won 156 seats in the state, shattering the record of Congress which had won 149 seats in the 1985 election.
Earlier in October, KCR launched the Bharat Rashtra Samiti (BRS), marking the first step toward becoming a national party to counter the BJP in the 2024 Lok Sabha polls.
The BJP is poised to break all records of electoral performance in Gujarat, the home state of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah, and is set to get the highest number of seats won by a political party in the state's history.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Thursday expressed gratitude to the people of Gujarat as the BJP inches closer to a historic victory in the state, and said that the mandate displays the "wholehearted" support of every section of society to the party.
Sanjay Raut while talking to the media stated, "Yesterday, in the Delhi MCD election results, the BJP lost after 15 years of rule. If in Gujarat, the Aam Aadmi Party and others would have come together, it could have been a tough fight for the BJP".
After the latest trends showed the Aam Aadmi Party leading on six seats in the Gujarat Assembly polls, Sanjay Singh on Thursday said that the party has penetrated into the "bastion of the BJP" and Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
As the trends for the assembly election results in Gujarat show a massive lead for the BJP, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Thursday said that there is pro-incumbency in the state.
