Following the success of the classic T20 World Cup 2022 match between India and Pakistan in October, the Melbourne Cricket Club and the Victorian government have made informal inquiries to Cricket Australia about hosting a Test match series between India and Pakistan in Melbourne.

The middle-order batter scored 192 runs in the series, including a century and a fifty. He was declared the player of the series for his contribution to India's 2-0 clean-sweep victory against the hosts.
"We had 70-odd runs to play with, just needed one wicket. We can think of several ifs and buts, but I'm proud of the way we fought," stated Shakib after the match.
