Kashmir Valley witnessed a bone-chilling first day of the year as the minimum temperature dropped several degrees below freezing point in many areas on Monday.
Dense fog continues to disrupt normal life in the valley as the minimum temperature was recorded at minus three degrees Celsius in Srinagar on Monday night.
A layer of dense fog was witnessed over the Delhi-NCR region on Tuesday morning, as the temperature dropped to almost 7 degrees in the national capital, according to the India Meteorological Department.
The climate in the state changed after it received rainfall late on Sunday night and it continued intermittently on Monday as well in various parts of the state. The state Bhopal also remained cloudy and received rainfall intermittently throughout the day.
The temperatures in Himachal Pradesh are dropping down by 4 to 5 degree Celsius after the recent hailstorm during past 24 hours. The IMD has forecasted dry weather during the next three days.
According to the Agricultural Research Center at Sikar's Fatehpur, the minimum temperature on Tuesday was minus 4.5 degrees. Layers of ice were spotted on the crops in the fields too, it said.
