As the state of Telangana has been experiencing heavy rainfall for the last two days, Indian Meterological Department on Monday stated that moderate rainfall is expected in the state on Tuesday (tomorrow).
The water level of the Munneru River has increased in Khammam's Prakash Nagar in Telangana. Congress MP from Khammam, Ramasahayam Raghuram Reddy said that the floods have caused damage to houses and the people have been rescued.
Telangana Minister of Information and Public Relations Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy said that all the private and government schools in the heavy rain affected areas in Hyderabad will remain closed.
Amid the heavy rainfall in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, the train services have been disrupted due to water logging over the tracks at several locations.
Telangana is likely to experience fairly widespread rainfall on August 18th, 19th, and 20th due to an upper air cyclonic circulation over the northeast Bay of Bengal, an official said.
Amid heavy rains in Telangana, BJP state chief and Union Minister G Kishan Reddy on Friday said that the central government is ready to help the state in any relief operations.
"The Telangana Chief Minister has not reviewed the situation of the loss incurred to the people due to rains nor given a statement to build confidence in the people. They are immersed in planning election strategies," BJP National Vice President DK Aruna said.
BJP Telangana President and Union Minister G Kishan Reddy on Thursday accused the state Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao of being apathetic to the plight of rain-affected farmers, saying that the CM is not hearing people who face hardships due to heavy rains.
The Indian Meteorological Department on Monday issued a red alert for Telangana for the next three days from July 25-27 and predicted heavy rainfall in the state.
Telangana Education Minister, Sabita Indra Reddy, on Tuesday, declared holidays for all educational institutions in the state on Wednesday and Thursday.
