As BJP swept three Assembly elections in the Hindi heartland states of Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan, counting for which was held on Sunday, Union Minister Rajeev Chandrasekhar said that the people had defeated the Congress' divisive and appeasement politics.
In a historical win in the Telangana assembly polls, the Congress is set to form government in the 119-member assembly state, as it crosses the majority mark by securing 64 seats.
While in Rajasthan and Chhattisgarh, the BJP has defeated the incumbent Congress governments, in Madhya Pradesh it has defeated the anti-incumbency in retaining the power.
"The victory that we got today is for those who made supreme sacrifice for Telangana. We will take forward their ideals and will make sure to fulfil all our promises," Revanth Reddy said at a press briefing in Hyderbad.
As the BJP is poised to sweep all three North Indian states in the Assembly elections, the counting of which is in the final stages, Union Minister Nitin Gadkari said that the people have shown their "mood" through these elections.
