According to the POREG report, despite scepticism across the political spectrum, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) along with its allies, proceeded with the dissolution of Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa assemblies.
Pakistan's National Assembly Speaker Raja Pervez Ashraf approved the resignation of over 40 Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf lawmakers in the lower house, according to Geo News citing sources.
In a video message, Imran Khan said, "I will start the protest from tomorrow (Tuesday) in Lahore and then will go to Pindi on Wednesday, Faislabad, Multan against the appointment of corrupt Mohsin Naqvi as Punjab's caretaker CM."
Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Senior Vice-President Fawad Chaudhry rejected the appointment of Naqvi as caretaker Punjab chief executive and vowed to launch a massive campaign against "this system".
Khan said the SKMT board of directors had informed him about investing the funds worth USD 3 million in a private housing project. He, however, clarified that the amount was later returned to the trust.
Khan is currently facing criminal charges in the Toshakana case after Pakistan's Election Commission disqualified him from the NA-95 (Mianwali-1) constituency for allegedly filing incorrect statements of assets.
The PTI lawmakers had resigned from the lower house of the parliament after PTI chief Imran Khan's ouster in April 2022 but the National Assembly Speaker had accepted only 11 of the resignations then.
Pakistan has been urging the Afghan Taliban leaders to counter the threat posed by Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) amid rising terrorist attacks in the country.
