The Punjab Police arrested one person after recovering one kg of heroin and Rs 27 lakh of drug money from his possession during a cordon and search operation (CASO) raids, police informed on Wednesday.

Simultaneous raids were conducted at the residential and other premises linked to Lakhbir Landa of Harike village of Tarn Taran district, in all the districts of Punjab in the ongoing cases.
On the intervening night of Monday and Tuesday, BSF troops on border patrol duty heard the sound of something thrown over the border fence towards the Indian side of the fencing in the area falling near Wan village in Tarn Taran district.
During the initial search of the area, troops recovered 1 Packet of narcotics suspected to be Heroin weighing around 500 grams wrapped in yellow colour Polythene.
In further action into the rocket-propelled grenade (RPG) attack at Sarhali police station in Tarn Taran district, Bomb Disposal Squad on Wednesday neutralised a live rocket-propelled grenade which was recovered from three persons who were arrested on Tuesday.
Director General of Police (DGP) Punjab Gaurav Yadav identified the arrested persons as Kulbir Singh, Hira Singh, and Davinder Singh, all residents of village Chambal in Tarn Taran. The Police have also booked accused Yadwinder Singh, he added.
The arrested smugglers identified as Dalbir and Jagdish, both residents of Gharinda in Amritsar, were engaged in drug trafficking for the last three years and have no criminal case registered against them, according to a statement from Information and Public Relations Department, Punjab.
A senior BSF officer informed that on Wednesday at about 8 pm, BSF troops detected drone intrusion from Pakistan in the area of responsibility of border outpost Harbhajan in the Ferozepur Sector of district Tarn Taran, following which BSF troops fired at the drone.
