Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Friday reviewed the preparations for the one-hour ‘Swachhata Shramdaan program’ scheduled to be held on October 1 in the state.
Calling upon people across the country to take part in a cleanliness drive on October 1 beginning at 10 am, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday said that Swachh Bharat is a shared responsibility, and every effort counts.
A total of 95,767 villages in Uttar Pradesh have attained ODF Plus status during the second phase of the Swachh Bharat Mission (Gramin), marking a 100 percent achievement rate for the state, an official statement said on Thursday.
People from all walks of life have come together to create a garbage-free India, with the launch of ‘Swachhata Pakhwada-Swachhata Hi Seva’ igniting a storm of enthusiasm across the country, read the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs press release.
During the said period, 632 MP References, 37 Parliamentary Assurances, 6 Cabinet Proposals, 213 State Government References and 47 PMO References were disposed of, the statement said.
ISL is a youth-led initiative designed to engage young people in activities related to cleanliness and sanitation. City teams are leading the way by actively cleaning beaches, tourist spots, and hills, showcasing their commitment to cleanliness, read the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs
"The campaign was also dedicated to the ongoing efforts of the Government for the ‘Swachh Bharat Abhiyan’ and Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s clarion call for mass cleanliness and sanitation campaign, through 'Swachhta Hi Seva'," stated the release.
In view of the Swachh Bharat Diwas celebrated on the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, the Yogi Adityanath-led government has decided to launch an extensive cleanliness campaign across all schools and educational institutions in the state leading up to October 2.
They also commended Clean India or Swachh Bharat Mission wherein 105 Million toilets were built bringing behavioural change in almost 600 million Indians.
