Calling upon people across the country to take part in a cleanliness drive on October 1 beginning at 10 am, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday said that Swachh Bharat is a shared responsibility, and every effort counts.
A total of 95,767 villages in Uttar Pradesh have attained ODF Plus status during the second phase of the Swachh Bharat Mission (Gramin), marking a 100 percent achievement rate for the state, an official statement said on Thursday.
"The campaign was also dedicated to the ongoing efforts of the Government for the ‘Swachh Bharat Abhiyan’ and Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s clarion call for mass cleanliness and sanitation campaign, through 'Swachhta Hi Seva'," stated the release.
In view of the Swachh Bharat Diwas celebrated on the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, the Yogi Adityanath-led government has decided to launch an extensive cleanliness campaign across all schools and educational institutions in the state leading up to October 2.
They also commended Clean India or Swachh Bharat Mission wherein 105 Million toilets were built bringing behavioural change in almost 600 million Indians.

Uttar Pradesh government has decided to implement the self-assessment system in every urban body of the state in line with its commitment towards the Swachh Bharat Mission and to achieve the objective of making cities of Uttar Pradesh garbage-free, an official statement said on Saturday.
Under this scheme, cultural groups of Uttar Pradesh engaged in the protection of cultural heritage, tourism promotion, Swachh Bharat Mission, Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan, women empowerment, Beti Bachao Beti Padhao and promotion of rural culture will be rewarded.
According to the plan, a total of 135 trainers will be deployed at 22 DPRCs (District Panchayati Raj Research Centres). The training is proposed for a total of 90,837 participants from the gram panchayat teams. So far, 73 percent of participants (65,604) have received the training. Furthe
