Iran's supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei on Wednesday warned Israel and said that Tehran will harshly retaliate against Israel's attacks as aerial attacks between the two nations continued overnight, marking the sixth day of the war.
Khamenei on Sunday said that it is upto the authorities to convey Iran's power to Israel and act in the country's interest and that Israel's airstrikes on Iran should not be magnified nor downplayed.
He strongly reaffirmed support for anti-Israeli militia groups like Hamas and Hezbollah, portraying this as an Islamic duty. Further he issued warnings of potential direct missile strikes from Iranian soil if deemed necessary.
Following the demise of Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi in a helicopter crash on Sunday afternoon, country's Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei has announced five days of national mourning in Iran, according to Press TV.
President Ebrahim Raisi was travelling back to Iran following a visit to Azerbaijan when his helicopter came down in bad weather conditions on Sunday afternoon.
"They want to see what choices you make in these elections and what the outcome will be," Khamenei said after casting his vote in elections in Iran to elect 290 representatives for the Iranian Parliament and 88 representatives for the Assembly of Experts.
"The insulting and indecent act of a French publication in publishing cartoons against the religious and political authority will not go without an effective and decisive response," tweeted Iran's Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian.
