Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu on Monday honoured Aastha Sharma, winner of the National Youth Parliament Declamation Contest organised by the Central Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports.
With the aim to ensure better amenities to the students of the government schools, the Himachal Pradesh government has decided to transfer an amount of Rs 600 per student to all the boys and girls from class 1-8 through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT), for providing them free school uniform.
CM Sukhu said that for this the project the tender was awarded in 2012, but the construction work had been delayed due to various reasons. Delayed projects incur increased costs and losses to the state, therefore the project needed to be completed within stipulated timeframe.

Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu on Thursday said that the state government is coming up with medical reforms. He said that to destress the doctors and paramedical staff there is a need to lessen the working hours in the state.
He said that Himachal was discussed while facilitating investment, employment generation and speeding up development. He said the government wants to promote the industries and support them.
The Chief Minister has expressed grief over the incident and has directed the administration to provide immediate relief to the next of Kin of the poor labourers and further assistance as per the relief manual.
