Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu chaired a meeting here today to review the prevailing crisis in the state. He said that 157 per cent surge in rainfall over the past four days has resulted in extensive damage across the entire state.
Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu on Tuesday took stock of the devastation caused by incessant rainfall from all District Magistrates, office of Chief Minister said.
“Around 55 people have lost their lives in the state till now. The death toll might go up. Restoration work is being done on a war footing. Chandigarh-Shimla 4-lane highway along with other arterial roads has been opened," CM Sukhu said.
Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu on Monday visited the disaster-hit village Jadon in Solan district that suffered heavy loss of life and property due to a cloudburst.
Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu on Monday informed that over 50 people have lost their lives within the past 24 hours due to landslides and continuous rainfall in the area. He also expressed concerns that over 20 people are feared to be trapped under debris.
"Twenty to 25 people are trapped under debris here. A total of 21 people have died in the last 24 hours in the state. I appeal to people to stay indoors, to not venture near rivers and landslide-prone areas. Restoration work will begin as soon as rain stops," the chief minister said.
Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu expressed condolences over the deaths and directed authorities to ensure all possible assistance and support.
