According to The Singapore Post, a suicide bomber ripping apart a mosque at Peshawar's Police Lines and leaving around 100 people, mostly policemen, dead created ripples in Pakistan. The government led by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has been shaken to the core by the attack.
The suicide bomber who carried out the deadly attack on a mosque in the Peshawar Police Lines area was a member of the Pakistani Taliban disguised as a policeman,Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police Chief Moazzam Jah Ansari revealed on Thursday in a presser, according to Dawn.
After investigating how the suicide bomber entered the Peshawar mosque and attacked, Pakistani police claimed that there are chances that the bomber was able to evade the security check because of an insider hand, reported Reuters.
The grave terrorist threat confronting Pakistan is evident from the Bannu hostage crisis ( Dec 19-21) followed by the Islamabad suicide attack by two suicide bombers including a female at I-10/4 on Dec 23 in which one policeman was killed and six others injured.
On December 23, though a major loss of lives in the capital was averted, it is believed that any congregation of Friday prayers might have been the actual target of the suicide bomber.
