After a second-year BDS student at a private university in Greater Noida allegedly died by suicide, Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi said such incidents are discouraging for girls across the country.
A second-year BDS student from a private university in Greater Noida allegedly died by suicide in her hostel room on Friday, said police. Two university staff members were taken into custody in connection with the case, based on a written complaint filed by the student's family.
The incident occurred at RR School in Jalgaon on July 11, when the student, identified as Kalpesh Valmik Ingle, was found unconscious during recess. According to school authorities, he was rushed to a private hospital, where he was declared dead on arrival.
Prisha Sah, a first-year B.Tech Computer Science student studying at the Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology (KIIT), Bhubaneswar, was found dead inside her hostel room on Thursday evening.
"We received information at around 8 pm that a student had died. The police and a team of doctors reached here, and it seemed to be a suicide prima facie. We will also speak to family members, and further investigation will be carried out," Sinha told ANI.
"It was heartbreaking to learn that a student died and several children fell seriously ill after food poisoning at a private residential educational institution in T. Kagepur, Malavalli taluk, Mandya district," CM Siddaramaiah posted on X.
The student is a native of Telangana and was in his third year of B.Tech. The investigation is underway. Prima facie it appears to be a case of suicide, but further investigations are ongoing. The FSL team has collected blood samples from the incident site, and some WhatsApp chats have also
