Five people have been arrested in connection with the brutal attack on two students from Tripura in Dehradun, in which one of them later succumbed to his injuries, police said.
Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha on Saturday said that he spoke with Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami regarding the tragic death of a student who was brutally assaulted by a group of miscreants in Dehradun on December 9.
The MEA expressed condolences over the death of an Indian student in Canada, saying it is in touch with the family and local authorities, while the Indian consulate is providing all possible assistance as the circumstances of the incident are being examined.
The deceased has been identified as an 18 year old from Raigad in Chhattisgarh, who was studying computer science engineering in the private institute, police said.
Father of the deceased student said that 22 days have passed since the incident. He said that, despite the seriousness of the matter, the investigation has remained extremely slow, adding to the family's anguish.
Deepshikha, the woman who saw the school student last time, before he headed to the Rajendra Place Metro Station and allegedly committed suicide, said that he looked disturbed and told her that the teachers "tortured" him.
The 16-year-old Class 10 student, who died allegedly by suicide at the Rajendra Place Metro Station in New Delhi, called for action against his school teachers in his suicide note.

According to officials, the deceased, identified as Mounika, allegedly took the extreme step on Thursday after facing harassment from her volleyball coach. Her family members accused the coach, identified as Ambaji, of harassing her over love affairs, which they suspect might have led to
