Hawaldar Naseer Ahmad was among 40 jawans who lost their lives in the Pulwama attack on February 14 in 2019 when militants in Kashmir attacked a CRPF convoy.
BJP leader and Member of Parliament Ravi Shankar Prasad lashed out at Congress leader Digvijaya Singh for raising questions about the 2019 surgical strikes, saying that such statements boost the morale of the masters of terror.
Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge on Tuesday refused to speak about Digvijay Singh's comment that there is no proof of the surgical strike and stated that Congress has always worked for the unity of the country.
"We have already clarified that the party stands with the Army. We have always been working for the country and will keep doing the same. We have immense respect for our Army," said Congress President Kharge.
"We don't appreciate Digvijaya Singh's personal views. His views are outlying views. We are absolutely clear that the Armed Forces do their job exceptionally well and they do not need to provide proof of that," said Rahul Gandhi.
The Indian Army is not bound to give proof about the surgical strikes it conducted in Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir, former IAF officer Wg Cdr Praful Bakshi (retd) said on Monday, adding that the government knows that sharing the details of the attack is "against the policy of the army".
