A total of 21 people have been arrested following the stone pelting incident and the subsequent protest which broke out in response. Earlier on Monday, police lathi charged the protesters in an effort to disperse the crowd.
CM Omar Abdullah said, "When the First of all, please explain to me what the need was to put up that stone. Sher-e-Kashmir established the Hazratbal shrine. However, he never put his name on it anywhere because it was not necessary."
