The Special Task Force (STF) of Assam police on Tuesday recovered and seized 982 grams of heroin and arrested a drug peddler in Assam's Hojai district.
During the search, some documents related to "maoist" activities and a 7.65 mm pistol loaded with six rounds of cartridges, cash worth Rs 40,000 were recovered from the possession of accused Pratik Bhowmik. One motorcycle was also seized from their possession.
The operation was carried out on Thursday night by a team of STF led by Parthasarathi Mahanta, DIG (STF) and Kalyan Kumar Pathak, Additional Superintendent of Police (HQ), Kamrup cum Additional SP, STF.
The Special Task Force (STF) of Assam police seized a large quantity of contraband drugs worth Rs 1.2 crore and apprehended a drug peddler in Kamrup district on Friday night, officials said.
"A lady drug peddler has been apprehended along with 30 vials containing suspected heroin weighing 42.5 grammes and cash worth Rs 3,470," Partha Sarathi Mahanta added.
The encounter broke out between the Special Task Force (STF) and Naxals in the forest area near Orchha police station in Chhattisgarh on Tuesday, officials said.
