Union Minister Nityanand Rai on Friday said that the state government of Uttar Pradesh will act on all the elements that will come out in the investigation of the stampede incident in Hathras that claimed the lives of 121 people.

According to the preliminary report, the stampede occurred when devotees tried to collect soil from the preacher's feet and were stopped by security personnel, leading to a rush and subsequent chaos.

The stampede took place on the evening of July 2 at a Satsang of religious preacher Suraj Pal who also goes by the names of Narayan Sakar Hari and 'Bhole Baba'.

Uttar Pradesh State Minister of Jal Shakti Swatantra Dev Singh condoled the deaths in the Hathras stampede incident and called it "tragic and heartbreaking.".
Mathur also mentioned that six people have been arrested in the incident and Rs 1 lakh reward has been announced on the arrest of the main accused, Prakash Madhukar.
