In response to the tragedy, the Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister announced financial assistance of Rs 2 lakh each to the families of the deceased and Rs 50,000 each to the injured.
Union Minister HD Kumaraswamy on Tuesday expressed grief over the Hathras stampede incident in Uttar Pradesh that has claimed the lives of 116 people and offered condolences to the bereaved families.
After the death toll in a stampede on Tuesday at a religious event in Hathras district rose to 116, Lok Sabha Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi said that the government should help the people sensitively.
Expressing his grief on the Hathras stampede incident, AIMIM MP Asaduddin Owaisi said that an investigation should be carried out to find the cause of the incident and proper treatment should be given to the injured.
"Deeply saddened by the tragic stampede in Hathras, Uttar Pradesh in which more than 100 people have lost their lives and several others have been injured. My heartfelt condolences to the families who lost their loved ones. Praying for the swift recovery of the injured," Raghav Chadha wrote
Taking to X Sanjay Singh posted, "The news of the death of hundreds of people in the stampede during the Satsang in Hathras is extremely heartbreaking. May God grant peace to the souls of the dead and give strength to the family members to bear this immense pain."
German Ambassador to India, Philipp Ackermann has expressed condolences on the stampede incident in Hathras, in which as many as 80 people have been killed.
"So far the death toll is 87 and the number of injured is 18 and they are out of danger," Aligarh Commissioner Chaitra V said speaking to ANI on Tuesday.
