Amid preparations for the assembly elections, Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi on Thursday reached Srinagar to take stock of the security situation in Jammu and Kashmir.

"The people of Jammu and Kashmir hold Prime Minister Narendra Modi in high esteem. On the other hand, the leadership of the National Conference, People's Democratic Party, and Congress is misguided and is being rejected by the people," Chug told reporters after a meeting in Srinagar.
Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) National General Secretary and Jammu and Kashmir in-charge Tarun Chugh on Saturday said that the BJP is fully engaged in election preparations in Jammu and Kashmir, adding that the first phase of the elections has been completely reviewed.
