Mallika Nadda, President of Special Olympics Bharat, has been appointed as Chairperson of the Special Olympics Asia Pacific Advisory Council (APAC), for three years. She has been serving as the Chairperson of Special Olympics Bharat since 2021.

The Special Olympics South Asia seven-a-side Unified Football Tournament 2024 concluded on April 19 with the SO Bharat Female Football team securing a third position and the male team securing a fifth position.
Two teams from India will be participating in the tournament- one each of boys and girls. The team consists of 11 athletes and unified partners in each, along with five coaches, representing eight states (Uttar Pradesh, Jharkhand, Gujarat, Punjab, Haryana, Maharashtra, West Bengal and Delhi)
The electoral college included the elected members of the state committees who underwent a similar process in their respective states. Each state which had conducted elections recommended two delegates to form the electoral college.
The athletes were welcomed with a warm reception upon their arrival at the Biju Patnaik International Airport on Wednesday evening by OSD, Sports & Youth Services Department, Sidhartha Sankar Sahu, in the presence of officials from Special Olympics Bharat, Odisha Wing.
India finished the final day of the Special Olympics World Games by taking their medal tally to 202 medals (76 gold, 75 silver and 51 bronze), with the last of the medals coming from the athletics track. Indian athletes notched six medals from the track events (2 gold, 3 silver and 1 bronze)
Neel Yadav, who hails from Gurgaon, Haryana, was introduced into the SO Bharat programme in 2017, after a chance meeting with SO Bharat Haryana Area Director Virender Kumar. His parents saw this as a chance to not just allow him to develop his passion for cycling but also get better at it.
Ranveer Saini, one of SO Bharat's most accomplished athletes has been integral to India's success at the World Games. As a 17-year-old he won the first gold for India in the event at the Los Angeles Games in 2015. Eight years on he has not let up.
At the end of the day's action Special Olympics Bharat had 55 medals (15 gold, 27 silver, 13 bronze) spread across five different sports like athletics, cycling, powerlifting, roller skating and swimming.
