On Wednesday, mobile snatchers had shot dead Hassan Tariq, a 17-year-old student of Edwardes College, on Mufti Mehmood Flyover, a heavily guarded area of the provincial capital.
The woman (57) reported the incident at Lodhi Colony police station. She was en route to her Embassy from Humayun's Tomb via Lodhi Road in an auto-rickshaw.
Giving details about the incident, the DCP said, "The incident took place on the night of September 2, when the 33-year-old woman had hired the auto from Burari and was on her way to an ISBT Kashmere Gate.
In a recent statement, the interim CM said: "Keep your mobile phones in those places where they can't get stolen. Another piece of advice is to keep your phones in the hidden pockets," as reported by Geo News.
"The accused used to take the benefit of the delay in blocking the sim by the victim to log in to the wallet and transfer money to their account said Delhi police.
According to the police, the woman judge was looted by two bike-borne snatchers on March 6 at 10 pm, when she was taking a walk with her 12-year-old son in the Gulabi Bagh area.
"Under the pretext of asking for directions, a bike-borne man tried to snatch the chain my grandmother was wearing. Seeing this, 10-year-old Rutvi Ghag started hitting him in the face with a bag. The man then fled the spot as his attempt to snatch the chain was foiled," the complaint said.
According to police, the accused, identified as Shoaib (22), a resident of Wazirpur village, snatched a mobile phone from a resident of Ashok Vihar, when he was on his way home from office.
The accused was caught red-handed by the public when he raised an alarm, officials said.
Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Wednesday met with the family of ASI Shambu Dayal Meena, who succumbed to injuries while catching a mobile snatching accused, and handed over a cheque of Rs 1 crore to the family.
