Troops of Integrated Check Post (ICP) Petrapole, 145 Battalion BSF, under the south Bengal frontier, thwarted a big gold smuggling attempt and apprehended a truck driver with 60 gold biscuits while being smuggled from Bangladesh to India on November 1.
The Customs department at the Nagpur International Airport on Friday seized gold worth Rs 2.10 crore concealed in a coffee maker, said custom officials.
The Air Intelligence Unit (AIU) of the Customs Department in Kochi seized gold hidden in paste form between two layers of undergarments from a passenger identified as Sakeer, who travelling from Sharjah, UAE.
During the examination of the said passenger, gold in the form of paste concealed in a pocket stitched separately on his underwear was found, officials said.
The sleuths of Cochin Customs on Saturday arrested a passenger for smuggling about 1,060 gm of gold worth Rs 50 lakh by concealing it in his rectum in Kerala's Kochi district, said the officials.
"The seized gold weighs approximately 1165 grams and 705 milligrams, with an estimated value of Rs 70,44,325. The disposal of seized gold has been done as per procedure, the BSF release said.

In two separate operations conducted this week, the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) seized 23.34 kg of smuggled foreign gold valued at Rs 14.43 crore through Chennai International Airport and foiled an attempt to smuggle foreign gold into the country.
Officials of Andhra Pradesh Police detained four persons and seized gold biscuits worth over Rs 2.5 crores in Tirupathi district from their possession, police said on Thursday.
