A delegation of 21 MPs from 16 parties of the Opposition bloc - the Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance (INDIA) - reached Manipur on Saturday.
Former Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Jairam Thakur on Sunday hit out at the state government over the damage caused due to the downpour in the state. He said that more than 15 days have passed, but the roads are not restored yet.
"At Uri and Pulwama they (Pakistanis) had attacked the Army and CRPF, but they forgot that the UPA government is not in power, it is the BJP government in power. And not Mauni Baba Manmohan Singh, but Narendra Modi is the Prime Minister," Amit Shah said.
"(Since the ethnic clashes broke) neither the Prime Minister has visited the state, nor given any statement on it. Manipur is a part of the country, the people of the state are the citizens of India. If the Prime Minister does not visit the state, then it is our duty to go there," Raut said
Slamming the Opposition delegation visiting Manipur, Bharatiya Janata Party National Secretary Tarun Chugh said that while the Centre is trying to restore normalcy, the opposition is “staging a drama”.
"Instead of analysing the situation there (Manipur), they are posting pictures on their way to the airport and from the airport, so are they on political tourism? They should consider having a discussion in Parliament...", the BJP MP said.
Slamming the Bharatiya Janata Party-led Centre over the situation in Manipur, Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi said that party leaders would accompany Prime Minister Narendra Modi if he visits the violence-hit state with an all-party delegation.
