Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Sunday took cognisance of the Sitapur incident in which four members of a family, including two children, died of apparent breathlessness after going to sleep with a lantern.
All schools from class 1 to 8 will remain closed till January 4 in view of the severe cold wave in Uttar Pradesh's Varanasi, informed District Magistrate S Rajalingam on Monday.
The District Magistrate (DM) issued an order on Sunday extending holidays for students of class 1 to class 12 of all recognized schools till January 4 in view of severe cold and excessive fog.
Forest Range Officer, Ashok Singh said, "Four elephants from Surguja-Sitapur area have crossed from this area last night. Three elephants moved towards the Lundra region while one elephant died after getting in contact with electric wires."

As per the police statement, the disposed off body parts of the deceased have been recovered from Gulariha under the police station Rampur Kalan area of Sitapur. The deceased is the wife of one of the accused, Pankaj Maurya.
Around 70 dengue cases were found out of the total tests conducted of suspected dengue patients in the district in September and October, said chief medical superintendent (CMS) at sadar hospital Dr. RK Singh.
