A sit-in protest was organised by the President of Jamaat-e-Islami president Manam Zafar against the mismanagement and corruption within the Intermediate Board of Education in Pakistan's Karachi city.
Local traders claimed that the detainees were in custody and their identities have not been revealed. In response, the traders organized a sit-in outside a police station, demanding the immediate release of the shopkeepers.
Pakistan has imposed a complete ban on freedom of expression and peaceful protests, said Baloch activist Mahrang Baloch on Saturday sharing the recent example of a peaceful sit-in, which was met with an FIR by the Hub police, targeting family.
Ahle Sunnat Wal Jamaat (ASWJ) began protests at 60 different locations of Karachi, including Liaquatabad, Nazimabad, Nagan Chowrangi, Sohrab Goth, Sharah e Faisal, Lasbela Chowk, Civic Centre, and other places.
He warned the authorities not to place undue pressure on the Jafariya community and added the community will not tolerate anyone's dictatorship and the protest sit-ins will continue.
The official committee which included ADC Bohair Dashti, GDA Chief Engineer Haji Syed Muhammad and Naib Tehsildar Munir Ahmed Zamrani held talks with the alliance leaders who mentioned their demands.
The Baloch Yakjehti Committee (BYC), a leading human rights organization in Balochistan, has reported that two sit-in protests are ongoing in Pakistan, protesting against state atrocities on the Baloch people.
She said that military barbarism is being conduct with full force, especially in Balochistan's remote areas and mentioned about a case of enforced disappearance.
Protests against the road closures in Kurram district are growing, with the sit-in in Parachinar now entered in its sixth day. Road blockages across the tribal district, including in Parachinar, are still ongoing.
