Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav jumped over the barricades as Delhi Police stopped INDIA bloc MPs from marching to Election Commission's office in protest of Special Intensive Revision (SIR) in poll-bound Bihar and allegations of "voter fraud" during the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.
Leaders of the Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance (INDIA) will hold a meeting at 10:15 AM on Thursday at the office of the Leader of the Opposition (LoP) in the Rajya Sabha in Parliament.
Union Minister Jitan Ram Manjhi, reacting to the Mahagathbandhan's planned rally, said the alliance will realise the ground reality in Bihar as they go "village to village."
"TMC has always done this because they know their vote bank consists of Rohingya and Muslims who came from Bangladesh, just so that those people's names not be cut they are doing this," the Union Minister told ANI.
Earlier in the day, MPs from the Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance (INDIA) protested against the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of voter rolls in poll-bound Bihar. The protest, which entered its fifth consecutive day, was held at Parliament's Makar Dwar.
Congress leader Shakeel Ahmed Khan, present at the protest, slammed the National Democratic Alliance (NDA)-led state government for being unable to provide answers over rising unemployment, saying that the state has descended into "a situation of anarchy and lawlessness."
"Opposition has a strong aversion to the Constitution. Parliament and the Supreme Court are constitutional institutions. They went to the Supreme Court, and when they couldn't stop it there, they are now trying to obstruct it in Parliament. This is against democratic norms", he said.
