Tibetans living in exile and supporters of the Tibetan cause from more than 37 countries gathered in Dharamshala on Tuesday to commemorate the 67th Tibetan National Uprising Day at the main Tibetan temple, Tsuglagkhang.
Sikyong stressed that knowing their history is crucial for defending their identity and struggle in order to effectively advocate for the Tibetan cause on the global stage.
Tibetan leader Penpa Tsering, during a UK visit, urged Tibetan youth to understand their history, stressed Tibet's global importance, and called for dialogue with China. He also warned against blind cooperation with China, highlighting the need to protect Tibetan identity and values.
Tibetans, especially the youth, are calling for the independence of Tibet, which they believe would only bring a lasting political resolution to the Sino-Tibetan conflict.
