At a side event titled "Human Rights Violations in Pakistan", a panel of Sindhi activists including Fatima Gul, Muzafar Talpur, Reva Tharwani and Sindhu Rustamani highlighted the situation of the region with an aim to seek the world's attention on the repression of Sindhi people.
Lakhu Luhana said: "Pakistan is trying to cash the miseries of Sindhi people to get international aid, but we believe the Pakistani federal and provincial Governments do not want to rebuild devastated cities, towns, and villages of Sindh and lives of Sindhi people."
While speaking on the resolution, the opposition and treasury lawmakers demanded that the major languages spoken in the provinces of Pakistan must be given the status of national languages.
Pakistanis have largely lost faith in the coalition government headed by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, having failed to carry out any of the much-needed economic reforms in the country.
"The practice of enforced disappearance is still going on and hundreds and thousands of Sindhis, political workers, human rights activists have disappeared," Bhutto said during the CHRAPA side event on the Universal Periodic Review (UPR) Process in Pakistan.
