Amid high anticipation of an early evacuation of the trapped labourers in Silkyara tunnel, Micro tunnelling expert Chris Cooper said that the vertical drilling works have been stopped and they are focusing on manual drilling which is progressing on a swift pace.
Nodal Officer for the Silkyara rescue operation and Secretary to the Uttarakhand government, Neeraj Khairwal, during a press briefing on Tuesday, informed that if there are no more hurdles, the rescuers are anticipating an early evacuation of the trapped labourers.

National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (NHIDCL) Managing Director Mahmood Ahmad on Monday informed that the vertical drilling of 36 meters has been completed inside the Uttarkashi's Silkayara tunnel where 41 workers remain trapped.

The company stated that it strongly condemns the attempts to link it to the incident. Adani Group or any of its subsidiaries have no direct or indirect involvement in the construction of the Uttarkashi tunnel.
The event organised on November 25 in 14 districts across 16 locations witnessed the participation of youth and a cross-section of the society who observed a two-minute silence and paid tribute to heroes who valiantly defended the nation, according to a CISD press release.
