Fine bowling performance by Washington Sundar and Avesh Khan helped India overcome a scare of 77-run partnership for the sixth wicket between Dion Myers and Clive Madande and beat Zimbabwe by 23 runs in the third T20I of the five-match series at Harare on Wednesday.
The series consisting of five matches is currently level at 1-1. Zimbabwe won the first match by 13 runs while India bounced back to win the next one by 100 runs.
Following the defeat against India in the second T20I of the five-match series on Sunday, Zimbabwe skipper Sikandar Raza hailed the Men in Blue saying that the World Champions played like World Champions.
India skipper Shubman Gill won the toss and elected to bat first against Zimbabwe in the second T20I of the five-match series at the Harare Sports Club on Sunday.
Following his side's 13-run defeat against Zimbabwe in the 1st T20I, India spinner Ravi Bishnoi said that they lacked partnerships which made the difference in the game.
India captain Shubman Gill was left disappointed with his individual and the overall team's performance and acknowledged that the players looked rustic during their first T20I.
Ahead of the T20I series against World Cup champions India, Zimbabwe all-rounder Luke Jongwe heaped praise on star Indian batters Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli following their retirement after clinching the T20 World Cup trophy in Barbados, West Indies.
