With all set for the Karnataka government formation after days of deliberations, Congress on Thursday invited the leaders of like-minded parties to the swearing-in ceremony of the chief minister and deputy chief minister scheduled on May 20, sources said on Thursday.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi, outgoing Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai and Congress leader Siddaramaiah were among others who greeted JD(S) patriarch and former Prime Minister H D Deve Gowda on his birthday.

Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge on Thursday met with Karnataka party leaders Siddaramaiah and DK Shivakumar at his residence in the national capital ahead of the departure to Karnataka.
Congress leader Siddaramaiah and Karnataka party president DK Shivakumar together arrived at party president Mallikarjun Kharge's residence in the national capital on Thursday.
According to sources while Siddharamaiah will get the CM position, the Karnataka Congress chief DK Shivakumar will be the Deputy Chief Minister. The oath-taking ceremony is set to be held in Bengaluru on May 20.
It has been four days after Congress registered an emphatic victory in Karnataka assembly polls by pushing BJP out of the only southern state it had, but the party is still mulling over the choice of the next Chief Minister.
"Delay in deciding the CM despite getting a full majority shows a lack of unity in the party. The Congress Party must stop playing politics, select a new CM and serve the people by forming the government", Bommai said.
Shivakumar was seen arriving at the residence of his brother and party MP DK Suresh in the national capital today. He is set to meet with Kharge and Rahul Gandhi later this evening.
