This development comes amid the Karnataka government seeking a stay on the Cauvery Water Management Authority order passed earlier seeking to release 5000 cusecs of water to Tamil Nadu for 15 days till September 26.
During the meeting held in New Delhi on Thursday, the visiting delegation had detailed discussions with the Union minister over the cauvery issue, they said.

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Rajya Sabha MP Lahar Singh Siroya on Sunday wrote to Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin urging Tamil Nadu CM to discuss the Cauvery water issue with his Karnataka counterpart Siddaramaiah.

Karnataka Health Minister Dinesh Gundu Rao said on Sunday that the Congress high command will decide whether Siddaramaiah will remain the Chief Minister for the entire five-year tenure.
"Today, we celebrate 75 years of Kalyana Karnataka Liberation and a decade of the region being conferred with special status under Article 371(j)," Chief Minister Siddaramaiah said in his address.
